Inca stairs are, traditionally, large slabs that are built into a rock wall and cantilever to form a staircase. In this project we needed a garden staircase but did not want a formal structure or balustrade to break the natural feel of the garden. We decided to build an Inca staircase. Because we were cladding a concrete wall with Barrydale stone, we did not have the required depth of stonework, so we were required to reinforce the slabs with hidden steel brackets.
