In 2016 The Grove Primary School invited us to design and build a jungle gym in the Grade 3 play area. The departing 2015 Grade 7’s raised money to sponsor this playground for the Grade 3’s. The school also wanted to commemorate the efforts of Miss Wrench, a valuable staff member of 30 plus years. She was affectionately known as “the Dragon” at school, and so Co-Creators decided to incorporate the dragon into the design of the jungle gym.

We contacted Krige Trees, and joined them on site to select eucalyptus limbs appropriate for the sculpting of a dragon. We further decided to modify the tail section of the dragon to emulate the arched body of the infamous Loch Ness Monster – these hoops work as balancing beams or seating for the children.

Soft Fall synthetic turf was installed underneath the platform of the jungle gym for safety and aesthetic effect.
