One morning Bood discovered a small swarm of bees had moved into his worm farm in his allotment at the Woodstock Peace Garden. The worm farm is made from half an old oil drum, with a loose-fitting lid and is positioned underneath an orange tree surrounded by flowering wild basil. The bees had to be removed because the garden is frequently used by autistic school children. Architect, beekeeper and Co-Creator Noel McCully, using protective gear, moved the swarm, first into a box with frames, then to her house and then finally, at night when the bees were sleeping, to a more remote location in Noordhoek. The swarm has now grown to over 5 000 bees. Co-Creators are pleased to offer beekeeping as part of our integrated service.
