In 2016 we designed and built this backyard transformation in Newlands. Custom built timber screens by Co-creators define the entrance and new drying yard. Raised vege boxes contain a food garden and a new pizza oven has been added to the space. The insitu cast concrete garden edge works well to link the concrete elements in the different corners of the garden. A new row of trees has been planted to screen the neighboring buildings and frame the new space. Halleria Lucida and Poplar Simonii alternate. Synthetic turf was preferred to regular grass as the clients children practice hockey skills here. We recycled the old brick paving in a herringbone pattern inside the drying yard area. Synthetic turf by Synturf. All paving and wetworks by Gasant Fakier.
