This city rooftop garden, designed and installed in collaboration with Marijke Honig, was built to incorporate the four different Cape fynbos biomes. Layers of lightweight material and soil were used to provide sufficient nutrients and reduce the load on the existing slab. The tree-shaped steel climber frames were designed to eventually look like living umbrellas. The raised polywood deck functions as a space divider and pathway and the clean lines and smooth curves compliment the organic textures and fynbos palettes.
